This recipe is inspired by one of my regulars and friend. We discuss all the things. Dating, eggs, music, work stress …if you can think of it we have probably talked about it. One of the most popular topics is dating. Mainly his, because I have been on maybe three real dates in the last 20 years. I’ve never been much of a dater. Seems I have a face that reads ,don’t ask. Truth is I never really had the motivation to date. It could be my somewhat grumpy attitude toward meeting new people or my inability to live a conventional existence. So I live vicariously through his stories.
I personally don’t get it. How does that work messaging through an app? How does anyone really get to understand who the other person is and if they would be interested in seeing them in person?
Take “let’s call him” Fred, my regular and recipe inspiration. If you looked at picture of him and read a short bio you would make some false assumptions. Yes, he looks like he would be a straight lace man that might not be the most forward thinking. You would be terribley wrong. That plain button down shirt and responsible haircut hides a man with many interests, a wicked sense of humor and a kind soul.

How can that bio let you know that in one minute he can go from talking about a punk band to how he likes to pickle things? I’m not saying I am not guilty of this. I spent a good portion of my life writing off people who seemed to run of the mill for me. Thankfully my jobs and life and events have taught me to wait a second and see before I judge. Now that being said I can be a judgmental bitch when I’m in the mood. Sorry, not sorry.

I wish there was a way for people to be able to see all these things through dating apps. I’m not sure how you do it. Maybe have other people write your bios.

I introduce Fred. He’s Cajun handsome and his stature reflects where he’s from. Has a good job and is very responsible but knows how to let go on his time off. He can talk music and culture with you while making you fancy deviled eggs. Knows how to make a good rice and gravy but also enjoys a three hour long $200 sushi happy hour. Can give that smart ass Cajun ribbing as well as he can take it. He’s the guy you want to bring home to your Mom but also will jump into a last minute adventure and bring all the snacks foods for his insane crew. So ladies, come by and meet him. Just know you do have to get the thumbs from all us souls who already know how great he is.

Can this be a thing? Can we start a dating app where other people describe who you are? Not your Mommas though, we all know that won’t help anybody’s dating life
